Torrid opens first store in Canada on September 1st

Torrid, a US-based brand for women sizes 12 to 28, announced the opening of its first store in Canada at Toronto’s popular shopping destination, Eaton Centre. The store opens on September 1st, doubling as the beginning of the brand’s international expansion.

Torrid currently has 287 stores and ships to over 150 countries. The Eaton Centre store will be its first brick-and-mortar in Canada where it has a strong online customer base. The 2,500-square-foot store will offer the brand’s plus-size apparel designed to fit women who wear sizes 12 to 28, thus making it the first store in Eaton Centre to exclusively carry plus-size merchandise. 
 
"The vibrant Canadian market is the perfect fit with our expansion plans," said Lisa Harper, Torrid CEO. "We have a robust online business there and it makes perfect sense for our first international store to open in Toronto. We're delighted!"

The store will launch with 23 other retailers as part of the mall’s new Level 2 expansion. Top models and Torrid brand ambassadors, Philomena Kwao and Georgina Burke, will host the debut party, which will have Canadian fashion influencer and blogger, Karyn Johnson of Killer Kurves, in attendance. The brand also announced that it will be in three additional locations in Toronto later this fall.
