U.S. retail payment provider Sezzle enters Canada via Kappa Sportswear

Sezzle Inc. is bringing its installment payment option to Canada through thousands of online stores. 
 

The alternative payment provider, which enables consumers to spread purchases over four installments with no interest, announced its Canadian debut on Monday with a partnership with Kappa Sportswear. 
 
"We see this as a turning point for Canadian shoppers as they now have access to a new way to pay that is completely transparent and fully aligned with their financial interests," said Sezzle CEO and co-founder, Charlie Youakim, in a news statement.

"As we continue to support consumer financial responsibility, we are thrilled to be kicking off our launch in Canada with a strong retail partner like Kappa, given their history and strong brand reputation in the region."
 
Canada is the U.S.-based Sezzle’s first international market. The company has over 3,300 active merchant partners in the U.S. and is the highest rated "buy now, pay later" solution on the market. It works with a number of fashion brands, including Tobi, Boyish Jeans and Necessary Clothing. 
 
The payment method, which allows shoppers to divide purchases into interest-free instalments that can be spread over six weeks, at no additional cost, is particularly interesting for millennials and Gen Z-ers who have no credit history or prefer avoiding high-interest credit card debt. 
 
For Kappa Canada, the addition of the alternative payment provider is expected to give online shoppers more flexibility.
