British weavers Alfred Brown, which makes worsted cloth and is one of the few remaining Yorkshire Mills with bulk production, last year teamed up with Leeds College of Art for the first time.
To strengthen its ties with the college, Alfred Brown held a competition in 2015. The company turns 100 this year and to celebrate the centenary, it challenged second year fashion students to produce a tailored menswear garment.
The winner has now been announced as Harriett McHugh. Her innovative overcoat will be showcased at Ideabiella tradeshow in Milan. Alfred Brown has also made new centenary woven labels available to all customers to sew into garments.
