UK's Jigsaw sees record-breaking Christmas
Jan 5, 2016
It was a merry Christmas for British fashion retailer Jigsaw, which carried on the momentum of "an exceptional festive period in 2014."
In the five weeks to January 2, the retailer reported a 13% increase in like-for-like sales, and total sales were up 19%. Margin was up significantly on the year. Sales in stand-alone store were up by double digits and in the Christmas week alone, online sales rose by 31% and mobile sales by 115%.
The period also includes the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend, which Jigsaw did not take part in, as reported previously on FashionMag.com.
Peter Ruis, CEO, said: “I am delighted with our strong performance this Christmas period. We beat the year across every channel with an accessories gifting peak in the last ten days. 2015 proved that a beautifully designed and sourced fashion piece remains the ultimate Christmas gift. Discounting it only devalues it.”
