Ubiq opens second retail location in Georgetown
Ubiq, the East Coast men’s footwear and apparel retailer, opened its second flagship store in Georgetown in Washington DC this month.
The retailer partnered with architect Jennifer Carpenter on the flagship store’s interior, which includes exposed brick walls, wood floor joists and retains the space’s original wood ceiling. The Georgetown flagship also borrows the Ubiq Philadelphia store’s blackened steel hang bars, pedestals and antiqued mirrors. Ubiq and Carpenter partnered on the retailer’s Philadelphia store remodel in 2015.
Ubiq Georgetown carries a vast selection of footwear and streetwear brands such as Nike, Jordan, Adidas and Stussy among others, and Ubiq celebrated the new store opening with limited sneaker releases and a raffle. The main focus of the flagship is the new Atlas section that features fashion, culture and travel magazines from all over the world. The Atlas feature draws from the retailer’s “The World Over” mantra.
“From UBIQ’s inception in 2002, we have been the go-to destination for premium foot/menswear in our home city,” the retailer said via social media. “As is our nature we refuse to stand still, but rather look to continually progress and add to our proud heritage and culture. Last year this ambition translated into re-establishing ourselves in the form of a redesigned storefront and the welcome added dimension of gallery space. Today, that same driving force has brought us here to share our passions, stories, and brand with an entirely new audience.”
Founder John Lee opened Ubiq in Philadelphia in 2002 with a focus on streetwear, skate and hip hop subcultures and emerging-independent brands and progressive designs. The first store opened at Gallery Mall and later moved to Walnut Street.
Ubiq Georgetown is located at 3124 M Street NW.
