Uniqlo and Lemaire to collaborate

Published
Mar 3, 2015

Christophe Lemaire wanted to inject some new energy into his eponymous label by dedicating himself fully to it, a commitment soon to result on a collaboration with a major company. Japanese brand Uniqlo has chosen the Parisian designer’s brand for its next fall-winter 15 designer collection.

Women's fall-winter 15 pre-collection - Lemaire.

Hermès’ former ready-to-wear creative director, who has also worked at Lacoste, now works alongside Sarah-Linh Tran, his partner in life and work. To mark their brand’s new era, they recently changed the name from "Christophe Lemaire" to "Lemaire".

The brand will benefit from an exceptional degree of exposure since Uniqlo will be distributing the collection for men and women around the world. The collaboration offers creative, comfortable everyday garments, as is often the case with the Japanese retailer's co-brandings, which has defined its range as "lifewear." Lemaire’s designs will certainly be defined by precise cuts and volumes, the brand’s trademark.

Lemaire succeeds Jun Takahashi, of Undercover, but especially Jil Sander, whose work for Uniqlo was so successful that it even had a reissue in 2014.

Less design-oriented but just as ready-to-wear, Uniqlo is continuing to collaborate with Inès de la Fressange on a collection under her name.
