Veja creates a fish-skin shoe

For next winter, Veja is bringing out sneakers in a fish leather tanned with plant extracts. The accessories and shoe brand picked the fine-scaled Tilapia for the robust yet elegant leather it produces.

Tipalia tennis shoes by Veja, 229 euros.


A pair of sneakers reqires nine Tilapia skins. The fish-skin shoes will go on sale in September in Paris at Brand Bazar and the Centre Commercial, in Beirut at Depechemode and in Singapore at Robinsons.

Just in time for the World Cup in Brazil, Veja has also come out with a tennis shoe made from recycled polyester fibers. Dubbed the Veja Volley Maracanã (89 euros), this sport shoes is made of a mesh in the exact same color as the seats in Maracanã stadium, where the World Cup final will be played.
