VF Corp to cut 52 jobs from Alameda facility on HQ move

VF Corporation has announced that it will eliminate 52 positions at its Alameda Warranty Center located at 2321 North Loop Road in Alameda, California.

The company said the decision is part of VF’s move of its corporate headquarters to Denver, Colorado, and that those employees who have been cut from the Alameda center were offered positions at the Denver headquarters. The company has yet to confirm what the facility will be used for once the Denver HQ is completed in early 2020.

“These layoffs are part of the relocation to Denver,” said Samantha Wannemacher, a VF spokeswoman, in an interview with the San Francisco Business Times. “At some point, everyone who is at the facility who is going will be relocated there...all Alameda employees were given the opportunity to relocate to Denver.”

VF Corp, which recently separated its denim business into its spinoff company Kontoor Brands, selected Denver’s lower downtown district for its new global headquarters last year. VF’s portfolio includes its Vans, The North Face, Timberland and Dickies brands, among others.

The Alameda closing follows the opening of VF’s new headquarters in London earlier this month.
