WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie, the Montreal-based accessories brand co-founded by twin brothers, Byron and Dexter Peart, announced the opening of its first boutique in the US in New York City.
The boutique located at 301 W. 4th Street in the West Village is a refined and timeless store with European mid-century furnishings and American minimal art that compliments the brand’s luxury accessories collection. The store layout is reminiscent of one’s home and has first-floor “living room” area with WANT Les Essentiels accessories, a “wardrobe” room with men’s and women’s apparel and WANT Les Essentiels footwear, and a “tearoom”.
"Our brand has always spoken to an inherent sense of discovery and community," says Byron and Dexter. "The way we live our lives, traveling between Montreal and New York, we have come to value permanence and a strong connection to something familiar. With this boutique, we wanted to create an environment that feels comfortable, honest and at peace."
The brothers carefully selected fashion, home and accessories brands from all over the world to be offered with their products including Tomorrowland, which recently opened a boutique in New York City, and Comme des Garçons Forever from Tokyo, Aspesi from Milan, Byredo and Filippa K from Stockholm, Casely-Hayford and 1205 from London, Carl Auböck from Vienna, MAlle w. Trousseau from Paris, Hasami Porcelain from Nagasaki and Paper & Tea from Berlin.
"We wanted to offer guests curated finds, which we've sourced from all over the world - items that are 'tools for living.' This concept is very innate to the brand: essential items that you need and would want to travel with, that you like to have around all the time, that give you a sense of security and necessity in your life,” explain Byron and Dexter.
