Walmart created over 1,200 jobs in Central America in 2015

Last year, the Mexico division of Walmart, Walmex, opened 23 new stores in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica, creating 1,234 jobs in the region.
The retailer invested $109.04 billion to expand its Central American business, including investments in infrastructure, retail spaces and technology.
In 2015 Walmex opened three supercenter stores, four supermarkets, eight outlet stores and eight warehouses.
The retailer also revamped 44 stores last year, in a $264 million investment.
Walmart's Mexico division is the largest unit outside of the US. It has traded in the Mexican Stock Exchange since 1977 and has over 2,300 stores in the country.
