Wayne Drummond to lead Hudson's Bay in the Netherlands

Published

Wayne Drummond will be leading the Dutch branches of Canadian department store chain Hudson’s Bay. The new role will be effective from 1 July.

Drummond will succeed Stefaan Le Clair, who led Hudson’s Bay in the Benelux region since November 2017. Le Clair will continue at the company as head of the Belgian department store chain Galleria Inno. As a result, the position of Head of Benelux will disappear, reports Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.

According to the newspaper, the change in roles is a decision made by the retailer’s new CEO, Helena Foulkes, who took office in February. “She appoints members of management teams per country and brand, who report directly to her,” a spokesperson told the newspaper.

At the moment, Drummond is the director of Saks Off 5th, the chain’s discount formula, which operates its Dutch branches in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. He will be succeeded by Hanneke van Meeteren, who is now in charge of sales and operations, reports Algemeen Dagblad.

Earlier this month, German media reported that Hudson’s Bay Europe CEO Wolfgang Link had left the company after just one year, leading to media speculation that the European management structure would eventually change.

In September 2017 Hudson’s Bay landed in the Netherlands with the opening of its first branch in Amsterdam, its first outside of Canada. In February, the department store chain announced that the initial plans to open 20 department stores across the Netherlands have been narrowed to 15.
