Have bag, will travel, especially with the Pasticcino, the freshly edited  Weekend Max Mara handbag which began a global jaunt this week in Venice.

 
In an unexpected piece of insider merchandising, the Italian brand debuted the “worldwide tour” of its iconic Weekend Max Mara Pasticcino, with the first stop in the Lagoon City.
 
Designed as a “cross-seasonal” project, kicked off by the Fall Winter 2022 version of the Pasticcino, whose name in Italian means dainty pastry, with a tour of master Venetian artisans and the toniest of soirées.

A visit to Venice that climaxed by dinner on the Grand Canal hosted by senior family member Mrs. Nicola Gerber Maramotti at Ca d'Oro, arguably the finest Venetian Gothic palazzo in the world’s most beautiful city. Back in 1992 the textile company, founded by Mariano Fortuny, transformed an ancient convent on Giudecca Island into his factory, still today the source of fabrics made on the original machines. While on the eastern side of the lagoon, the tiny island of Murano has created probably the world’s most famous fine glass for over eight centuries, noted for its unrivalled color selection and uniquely delicate finish.
 
Three different cottons used in the Pasticcino Bag Modello Venezia include metallic motifs with hints of gold and copper; dusty teal blue and lavender accents. This playful Venetian version of the clutch features a ball clasp made by Gambaro & Tagliapietra, celebrated for its artistic glass objects and one-of-a-kind pieces since 1974.
