Xcel Brands tries see-now-buy-now with new license agreements

Published
Nov 10, 2016

Xcel Brands announced on Wednesday new licenses for its Isaac Mizrahi, H Halston and Judith Ripka brands. The company entered into these new license agreements to pursue growth in categories that complement its quick time response (QTR) programs.

The company signed license agreements with Bytech NY Inc. and Longlat Inc. for the Isaac Mizrahi brand. Through the agreements, Isaac Mizrahi in spring 2017 will launch a collection of tech accessories for smartphones, PCs, tablets, and personal audio, as well as hard and soft luggage all under the Isaac Mizrahi New York and Isaac Mizrahi Live! labels. The tech accessories will also be under the IMNYC Isaac Mizrahi label.

H Halston in spring 2017 will launch a line of women’s sleepwear and intimate apparel under the H Halston and H by Halston labels as per Xcel’s license agreement with Komar. The company also signed an agreement with Gina Group LLC for women’s, men’s and children’s hosiery, socks, and legwear, and men’s and women’s slippers, and with B. Robinson for non-optical sunglasses all under the H Halston and H by Halston labels. The sunglasses collection will launch in 2016 and the hosiery collection will launch in spring 2017.

Finally, Xcel entered a license agreement with Bentex Group Inc./Indecor LLC for its Judith Ripka brand. The license is for fashion bedding, bath, decorative pillows, window panels, and valences that will launch at select retailers under the Judith Ripka Home label beginning in 2017.

CEO and Chairman of Xcel Brands, Inc. Robert W. D’Loren remarked, “With the rise of a ‘see-now-buy-now’ consumer shopping mentality and the need to respond to trends as they happen, Xcel created an innovative solution to bring exclusive brands to our department store partners in a quick time response format. The rapid growth of these apparel programs has generated excitement within the licensing community across numerous complementary categories. With these new partnerships we will continue to build meaningful lifestyle brands under the IMNYC Isaac Mizrahi and H Halston labels.”

Xcel’s QTR apparel programs are at Lord & Taylor and Hudson’s Bay stores.
