Yad Cheri to host NYC pop-up

Published

Hand-focused New York-based online concept store Yad Cheri has announced a one-day pop-up in the Big Apple, slated to open doors on Sunday.

New York gloves by Thomasine Gloves, available on the Yad Cheri site for $450 - Yad Cheri

To create the pop-up, Yad Cheri will be teaming up with partners, family run leather manufacturer District Leathers, whose showroom will be hosting the event, and message jewelry brand Atelier Paulin.

District Leathers owner Alex Bass will be giving a talk on the leather industry, while Atelier Paulin will be on hand to create customized gold wire bracelets for the occasion.

Other details concerning the pop-up are currently rather scarce but publicity for the event promises “a day of shopping, talks, music & food”.

With this in mind, it seems safe to assume that a range of products curated by the self-dubbed “concept store de la main”, including accessories and cosmetics, will also be available for purchase. The Yad Cheri site features items connected to the hand either by virtue of being “for the hand”, hand-shaped or handmade, a set of criteria which actually makes for quite a varied selection.

Beauty products include soaps and hand creams from Portuguese brand Claus Porto, cruelty-free nail polishes from California-based clean cosmetics purveyor Côte and Swiss handcare products from Arrow.

The online store’s accessories selection spans from (perhaps predictably) leather gloves and handbags to handmade scarves and jewelry, and a range of homeware goods including candles and ceramics is also on offer. Prices are equally varied, ranging from $8 for a bookmark to $1,500 for a signed limited-edition Atelier Christian Lacroix photograph.

Yad Cheri seeks to offer products displaying “a Euro-chic vision combined with American talent illustrating the hand”, and its site also features a blog focusing on the hand in art, culture and fashion.

The store’s name combines the Hebrew for “hand”, “yad”, with “cheri” – “darling” in French, but also incidentally “hand” in Greek, as the brand’s website informs visitors – evoking the eclectic, international feel of its product selection.

The Yad Cheri Spring pop-up will be open from 11 AM to 5 PM on Sunday, April 8, 2018 on the fifteenth floor of 263 West 38th St., New York.
