Zalando names new corporate development leader from Walmart

Zalando said this week that it has strengthened its senior leadership team with the appointment of Padmaja Bommareddy as new SVP of Corporate Development. 

She will be responsible for “identifying and executing on opportunities for the company that will help Zalando deliver on the existing platform strategy and beyond”.

She joins from giant US retailer Walmart where she helped lead the apparel omnichannel strategy so she clearly knows how to handle a business with mega-sized sales figures.

Zalando said she’s worked in Europe, Asia and the US “and will bring an important global perspective to the role”. That’s an important point as the company grows around the world. 

“We are delighted to welcome Padmaja to our team,” said co-CEO Robert Gentz. “We are looking forward to working together on exploring new opportunities to further elevate our services and offerings and grow the company.”

Lats month Zalando reported strong results and also said It expects 2022 sales to rise between 12% and 19%, to reach €11.6 billion-€12.3 billion. It’s also on track for GMV by 2025 of €30 billion+.
