Amazon joins forces with Moda Operandi

Moda Operandi has partnered with Amazon.com and now accepts payments via Amazon Payments. Moda Operandi customers no longer need to pay for items at trunk shows, retailers, or online. Instead, they can pay using smart phones or in-store tablets that connect to their Amazon account.

The new smart phone detection technology also alerts stylists when customers enter brick-and-mortar Moda Operandi retailers and pop-ups. Favorites identified by customers through Amazon or Moda Operandi’s e-commerce site are forwarded to stylists who can quickly fetch the items for customers. Moda Operandi currently operates two invitation-only retail boutiques, one in New York and the second in London, where the new technology will be implemented, as well as at fashion shows and trunk shows.

While some see Amazon expand into the payment-processing industry, others may perceive the companies increasing influence as a threat to PayPal or Google Pay.

Amazon.com was incorporated in May 1997. The company sells a broad range of items through its e-commerce site, including fashion, home goods, electronics, groceries, music and books, among others. The company employs approximately 97,000 individuals internationally.

Founded in 2011, Moda Operandi is a luxury e-commerce retailer offering apparel, footwear, jewelry and accessories for men, women and children.
