American Eagle launches Pride collection with LGBTQ non-profit

Published
Jun 5, 2017

American Eagle joins Nike, Converse, Urban Outfitters, and Paul Smith in celebrating National Pride Month with a limited edition collection with non-profit organization It Gets Better Project.

The AEO Pride Love is Love graphic t-shirt

The AEO Pride collection is comprised of t-shirts, tanktops, boxers, briefs and accessories featuring rainbows, the word ‘love,’ and the hashtag #WeAllCan. The collection is available online and at select stores in the US, Canada and Israel through June 30, 2017, and 100% of the sales benefit the It Gets Better Project.

Launched by syndicated columnist Dan Savage and his partner Terry Miller, the It Gets Better Project utilizes the media to reach and give support and hope to LGBTQ youth around the world. The organization received the 2012 Governor’s Award from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and has garnered support from Barack Obama.

“The It Gets Better Project’s number one priority is to uplift and empower LGBTQ youth around the world,” said Brian Wenke, executive director of the It Gets Better Project.

“Partnering with American Eagle Outfitters on their #WeAllCan campaign will help amplify our efforts to reach LGBTQ youth in their everyday lives. Together, we will ensure that younger generations know they are not alone and that everyone deserves love and acceptance.”

In addition to launching the partnership collection, American Eagle will sponsor Pride Pittsburgh and participate in the Pittsburgh Equality March on June 11, and it will host a #WeAllCan float in the New York City Pride March on June 25.

The specialty retailer will also support its first LGBTQ film award in partnership with NewFest. The New Voices Filmmaker Grant will be awarded to a young emerging LBGTQ filmmaker during NYC Pride’s OutCinema on June 19, 2017.
