Banana Republic and the CFDA tap Greg Lauren for second capsule
Banana Republic and the CFDA announced on Thursday the launch of a limited-edition capsule collection with designer and artist Greg Lauren.
The Greg Lauren for Banana Republic collection is a combination of Banana Republic’s American sportswear sensibility and Greg Lauren’s utilitarian design style.
The 16-piece capsule collection features several men’s ready-to-wear pieces like mixed media jackets and tuxedo shirts that compliment Lauren’s namesake label. The collection was designed and produced in Los Angeles and ranges in price from $178 for select shirts to $3,000 for a cashmere overcoat.
The new capsule collection is a follow-up to the CFDA and Banana Republic’s collaboration collection with Timo Weiland that launched in spring 2016. The womenswear capsule was the first collaboration between the CFDA and Banana Republic.
"We're thrilled to continue our work with the CFDA to support emerging designers by helping them scale their business and broaden their visibility," says Michael Anderson, Senior Vice President of Design, Banana Republic.
"Greg is a true artist who puts his heart and soul into every piece he creates. We share a passion for the details and had a great time playing with ways to marry our signature styles through his artistic approach."
Greg Lauren, Ralph Lauren's nephew, launched his eponymous label in 2011. Prior to launching his fashion label, he was a painter and actor that appeared in movies such as The Wedding Planner, Boogie Nights, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. Greg Lauren is currently available at over 30 high-end fashion boutiques including Barneys New York, Dover Street Market, 10 Corso Como, Maxfield and Tomorrowland.
The Greg Lauren for Banana Republic collection is launches at select Banana Republic stores on December 6, 2016.
