Belk CEO Tim Belk announces retirement

The Board of Directors of Belk, Inc. announced on Wednesday that Chief Executive Officer Tim Belk will retire from the company in July 2016.

 
Tim Belk joined the company in 1981 as a management trainee, and he assumed the role of CEO in 2004. Throughout his career, he served a variety of roles including buyer, store manager, divisional merchandise manager for men’s and boys’, Senior Vice President of Human Resources and President of Stores and Real Estate.
 
Belk will continue to serve on the company board, and Hot Topic Chief Executive Officer Lisa Harper will succeed him as CEO, effective July 5, 2016.

Harper served as Hot Topic CEO from March 2011 until June 2016. She will continue to serve on the Hot Topic Board of Directors, which she joined in 2008. Prior to Hot Topic, Harper worked at the Gymboree Corporation and served as CEO from 2001 to 2006 and Chairman from 2002 to 2006. She also held creative, merchandising and design positions at Limited Too, Esprit de Corp., GapKids, Mervyn's, and Levi Strauss.
