Bluemercury opens new Chicago flagship in River North
Beauty and spa chain Bluemercury on Friday opened a new flagship store in Chicago, fifteen years after opening its first store in the city.
The Macy’s-owned beauty chain opened two of its first 10 stores in Chicago, and opens its Bluemercury location in the city this weekend.
The flagship opening follows an announcement by Macy’s in March about the expansion of Bluemercury retail locations. The department store said it would open 50 Bluemercury freestanding stores and shop-in-shops at Macy’s this year, and so far opened locations in Southampton, NY and Newtown, PA. Bluemercury also plans to add six more stores in Chicago 2017.
The 3,653-square-foot flagship, located at 356 North Clark Street, features a full-service spa offering customized facials, microdermabrasion, and waxing among other services. The new flagship is also home to over 90 luxury beauty brands, including La Mer, Skinceuticals, Darphin, Trish McEvoy, NARS, Oribe, Molton Brown and Bluemercury's two proprietary brands M-61 Powerful Skincare and color cosmetics line Lune + Aster.
The beauty chain celebrated the flagship opening with a VIP event on May 18 hosted with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago, Bluemercury co-founder Barry Beck, BGCC President & CEO Mimi LeClair, BGCC Board President Chris Kirtley, and BGCC member Meg Sauer among others. The opening celebration continues through May 20 with in-store offers.
"Bluemercury merges luxury beauty with innovation and a hyper-personalized customer experience, and we've found the Chicago market to be very receptive to our approach,” said Barry Beck. “We are seeing tremendous results that are far above our expectations and intend to blanket the great city of Chicago with more stores to keep up with the increased demand for our products and services."
Bluemercury opened its 100th retail location in 2016 in Washington DC and currently operates 111 stores.
