Brooks Brothers, Tracy Reese and Carhartt to design United Airlines uniforms

Published

Airlines continue to call on designers and brands to create new uniforms for its employees. Cole Haan, Twin Hill, Lands’ End, and Laurence Xu are some of the most recent designers and brands to partner with airlines, and Brooks Brothers, Tracy Reese, Carhartt are the latest to get involved.

United Airlines on Thursday announced a partnership with Brooks Brothers, Tracy Reese and Carhartt to create uniforms for over 70,000 United employees, which will be rolled out in 2020.

"The partners we've selected uniquely match what our employees asked for in a uniforms program – style, comfort and durability," said Kate Gebo, United SVP of Global Customer Service Delivery and Chief Customer Officer. "We recognized early on that this would not be a 'one size fits all' solution – front-line employees perform vastly different roles and deserve a uniform that meets their specific needs, created by leaders in the apparel business.”

The airline held focus groups, open houses and surveys to identify the brands that meet the needs of employees. United and the fashion labels worked together for several months to deliver its next-generation uniform program.

Brooks Brothers will design and manufacture uniforms for all United pilots, male flight attendants and customer service representatives, Tracy Reese will partner with Brooks Brothers to design uniforms for female flight attendants and customer service representatives, and Carhartt will outfit the ramp service, technical operations and catering operations employees.

In addition, United partnered with Tumi to serve as the official luggage provider for all 24,000 flight attendants. All United flight attendants will receive their choice of either a two-wheel or four-wheel rollaboard bag.

Gebo added, “Our United family is excited to see how these trusted and innovative brands will deliver world-class uniforms in close collaboration with our employees."
