Burberry tops UK Instagram influencer brand list
The Instagram analytics platform said Burberry has 7.9m followers on the key social media site, putting it considerably ahead of other fashion labels.
Meanwhile Primark, which has invested heavily in its social media team, has 3.6m followers with its investment making it the only value-focused fashion retailer in the top 10. Alexander McQueen is next with 3.5m followers Stella McCartney is fourth on the list with a 3.3m follower count.
Not only is this quartet top of the list for fashion brands but it also tops the total top ten influencer list. It comes ahead of major car brands such as Jaguar, Bentley and Aston Martin, as well as beating the influential BBC news brand.
Burberry’s position at number one is perhaps no surprise given how much the brand has embraced digital. It has been a pioneer in social media and uses digital as an integral part of all marketing, as well as introducing digital browsing and payments into its stores before most other luxury labels.
The company has also been a big user of SnapChat, using it to promote major product launches and initiatives around key shopping seasons such as Chinese New Year.
