Columbia Sportswear appoints new marketing VP for Mountain Hardwear
In her role, Burns will develop and drive all areas of the brand's integrated marketing strategy. She brings a decade of Silicon Valley-based digital marketing experience for start ups, non-profits and global corporations to her new position.
Prior to joining Mountain Hardwear, Burns led strategy, social media and analytics at John McNeil Studio where she created brand strategies and campaigns across tech and e-comm clients, focusing on digital, social and experiential marketing.
She has also led global social content strategy at CA Technologies. She holds her Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the University of Chicago and her Master's from the University of San Francisco. She also holds a Japanese language certificate from Stanford and completed coursework at Harvard.
Mountain Hardwear President Joe Vernachio, commented in an official statement, "We feel there is a more modern way of communicating that outdoor brands fail to tap into," explaining that Burns brings a valuable combination of "Silicon Valley know-how" and a "personal passion for the outdoors."
Burns will report directly to Vernachio at Mountain Hardware. In addition to the Columbia brand, Mountain Hardware's parent company Columbia Sportswear also owns Sorel and Prana.
Burns' appointment is effective immediately.
