Copenhagen Fashion Summit: a dense program

Published
Apr 22, 2014

A few days before it is set to takes place, the agenda for the upcoming Copenhagen Fashion Summit has finally been made public. The conference dedicated to a greener and more ethical fashion industry will be held in the Danish capital on April 24, 2014 at the joint initiative of the Danish Fashion Institute and the Nordic Fashion Association.

Bottega Venetta CEO Marco Bizzarri, a speaker at the Copenhagen Fashion Summit.

Over the course of the day, the summit will host a great deal of talks and debates aimed at inspiring change in the fashion industry. In addition to local political representatives, such as ministers of the environment and the economy, the floor will be given to representatives from major companies, leaders of human scale initiatives, as well as brand consultants specialized in the issue.

Justin Keeble, in charge of sustainable services for the consulting firm Accenture, will be one of the first to speak, presenting five disruptive ideas for sustainable fashion.

An initial series of talks will then approach the subject from the perspective of brands, thus focusing on products themselves. First at the podium will be Marie-Claire Daveu, chief sustainability officer and head of international institutional affairs for Kering Group. She will be followed by Marco Bizzarri, CEO of Bottega Veneta, and then Livia Firth, founder of the consulting firm Eco Age.

A debate moderated by Financial Times editor Vanessa Friedman will focus on innovative materials, bringing to the table Chantal Malingrey Perrin, marketing director of Première Vision; Marco Lucietti, marketing director of ISKO; Giusy Bettoni, CEO of the innovative agency CLASS; and Catarina Midby, H&M’s head of sustainable fashion.

Bangladesh will naturally be at the center of the conversation. Alan Roberts, executive director of international operations for The Bangladesh Accord on Fire and Building Safety, is scheduled to take stock of the situation one year after the Rana Plaza disaster.

The summit will conclude with a second round of debate fueled by preceding discussion. Nader Mousavizadeh, partner and co-founder of Macro Advisory Partners, the consulting firm for governments and companies, will lead a discussion on the future of fashion, reflecting on questions and ideas raised throughout the day.
