COS on Friday opened the doors to its Los Angeles pop-up store designed by Snarkitecture. The project is the Swedish brand’s second collaboration with the New York-based design studio.
The Los Angeles pop-up doubles as a store and a temporary art installation. A 20ft high mirror divides the space into two rooms that each contains an offset grid of bent steel and concrete sculptural displays. One space is an all-white monochrome and the other is pink tinted.
Alex Mustonen, co-founder of Snarkitecture, said that he found inspiration for the art installation in the COS FW15 collection, specifically the tone and shape details.
The design studio was commissioned by the Swedish brand to produce an installation for Salone del Mobile 2015 earlier this year. The installation was 100,000 meters of translucent white fabrics that were cut and hung from the ceiling to form a tunnel-like space. The fabric was very similar to material used by COS.
The Los Angeles pop-up is at Austere on 912 South Hill Street and will remain through November 15.
