Courrèges names artistic directors

Space age-inspired brand Courrèges announced on Wednesday that it has named Sebastian Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant as the new artistic directors of womenswear.

The two young Frenchmen have already worked together on their own label, Coperni, which was selected as one of eight finalists for the LVMH Prize, which focuses on young fashion designers.

Despite their label's success, they plan to put it on the back burner while they settle into their new positions at Courrèges, founded by French designer André Courrèges in 1961 with his wife Coqueline.

Courrèges co-owner and co-president Jacques Bungert told he is looking forward to working with the Meyer and Vaillant and praised their keen eye for fabric.
