Denim by Première Vision, which opened its doors to fashion professionals this morning in Paris, has announced it will be moving its show to Barcelona from the next edition onwards. As part of an agreement between Première Vision SA and Fira Barcelona, operaters the Montjuïc convention centre in Barcelona, the next edition of the show will take place in the Spanish city on the 21 and 22 May next year. The city-hop decision comes partly as a result of the impending transformation of Halle Freyssinet in Paris – the show’s chosen location since 2007 - which will be turned into an incubator space for 1000 start-ups in France.

Organisers of the show, however, have been mulling the idea of a move for over a year and a half. For them, the choice was easy – 72% of visitors and 95% of exhibitors are from outside of France. Barcelona, with its convenient geographical location and dynamic nature, is a logical choice given that many of those attending the show come from around the Mediterranean.
On the news, Neil Bell, in charge of global material fabric and fibre innovation at Levi Strauss & Co said: “The place will be better for us - larger, with a new atmosphere and more inviting. Barcelona is a vibrant young city, full of creativity, a city that offers a lot of inspiration for the denim community. With this change, Denim by Première Vision fully establishes itself as the leader in denim trade fairs for all jeanswear lovers. ̋
The Montjuïc convention centre was home to German trade show Bread & Butter and its sourcing show, The Source, between 2005 and 2009.
