Derek Lam announced this week the opening of its first shop-in-shop at iconic luxury retailer, Bergdorf Goodman. The space reflects the company’s new retail design concept that was created by William Sofield of Studio Sofield. The design will also be integrated to the Derek Lam retail location on Madison Avenue.
William Sofield stated "The tactile and technical are in perfect balance. Derek's quiet vision is revealed as his fashion floats on rock crystal wands hovering above a glass floor. The quintessential view of New York with the Plaza, Sherry Netherland, Pierre and Central Park as the backdrop; at once nostalgic and forward looking."
The shop, located on the retailer’s new sixth floor named "The New Level of Fashion" that opened in May, is a 375-square-foot space with mirror flooring, silk carpeting, and a color palette of ivory, silver, gray, bone, pale pink and black. The shop-in-shop carries the women’s ready-to-wear collection.
Derek Lam stated "Bill Sofield has created a jewel box corner shop which compliments the aesthetics of the Derek Lam brand: luxury thru the lens of a modern lifestyle. It perfectly shares the same values as Bergdorf Goodman: Exceptionally high quality of design for a memorable retail experience. Like the Derek Lam collection itself, beauty and integrity are showcased in a special new environment at Bergdorf Goodman."
Derek Lam is a San Francisco-born American fashion designer who studied at Parsons School of Design in New York City. He launched Derek Lam with his partner, Jan-Hendrik Schlottmann, in 2003 and launched Derek Lam 10 Crosby in 2011.
