The Belgian edition focuses on 'stones left previously unturned', including Van Noten's youth and also his forays into ambiguity, and passion.

Other fresh material to discover at the "Inspirations" exhibit in Antwerp includes a host of anonymous garments from the 19th century and works by Elsa Schiaparelli and Christian Dior that inspired the designer.

Flemish Masters, Marble Women, Summer flower and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" are among the themes explored in Paris that will be on show at the Antwerp exhibit, opening Friday.

In addition to clothing and accessories by Dries Van Noten, visitors can also see pieces by artists and designers Pierre Balmain, Elizabeth Peyton and Ryan McGinley.

"Inspirations" runs until July 19.
