Dsquared2 enters the Netherlands with two stores

Published
Feb 17, 2017

Canadian fashion duo Dsquared2 have officially debuted in The Netherlands with two new stores -- one in Amsterdam and the other in Rotterdam.

The men's floor inside the new Amsterdam store - Dsquared2

Located in the Dutch capital's prime shopping street, PC Hooftstraat, and Lijnbaan in Rotterdam, the first-ever standalone stores for Dsquared2 in the Netherlands were designed by the brand's owners and creative directors, Dean and Dan Caten, and the Italian architectural firm storageassociati.

The Amsterdam flagship spans over three floors and covers 216 square meters. On the basement floor is denim and underwear and beachwear, and the ground floor hosts menswear, as well as the 'classic' collection, a line of Italian tailored suits and tuxedos. Womenswear is on the first floor and includes a capsule line of cocktail and evening gowns. Accessories, perfumes and eyewear collections are also available in the store.

Okumé wooden panels in black and satin brass make up the interior of the Amsterdam boutique. Store fixtures include glass shelves in champagne color with a black outline and velvet chairs in the women's area, underpinned by silk wool carpets. The denim area boasts blue carpet, black embossed metal grids, a lightbox with a forest image, black leather armchairs and matte black metal furniture in brushed steel and LED lighting. Stairs feature ceppo di Gré marble stone and steps are lit with LED stripes and brass details.

The Rotterdam store is smaller, spread over two floors and 189 square meters. Design fixtures included full-height steel containers, neon lights, metallics, exposed pillars, stained concrete floors and stripped-back plastered walls to mimic a loft. There is also a moveable trolley display case, black spotlights and an industrial lighting fixture suspended by a chain.

A red maple leaf carpet and plexiglass changing room, on the store's first floor, harks to the designers’ Canadian origins.

“The Netherlands is like a small treasure chest which encloses artistic and architectural jewels but also leaves space to contemporary art, to avant-garde design, and fashion – this is the reason why we decided to open two boutiques in this country, especially in two innovative and creative cities such as Amsterdam and Rotterdam.” said designers Dean and Dan Caten, in a press statement.
