Eureka Fripes sets up wholesale centres in Sydney and Los Angeles

Eureka Fripes, the French expert in second-hand and vintage clothing, continues to expand internationally after opening in Japan and the UK. The group also owns specialised retailers Kilo Shop, Vintage Standards and Kiliwatch Paris, and will set up two wholesale centres for vintage apparel ("fripes" in French), in Australia and in the USA. The first, the 800 m² French Fripe centre, will open on 16th August in Sydney, in association with John Oerblin, a former employee of Kiliwatch who also operates his own Sydney store, called Fabrique Vintage.

September will see the opening of a 1,000 m² centre in downtown Los Angeles. "The internationalisation of our wholesale business is a long-term strategy. In the vintage apparel sector, purchases are made weekly, monthly at most. Unlike in classic fashion, which features pre-orders in advance. We must therefore be close to retailers," said Bernard Graf, the founder of Eureka Fripes.

The group has a staff of 180, about sixty of them based at the Rouen, France headquarters, and generates a revenue of approximately €26 million, which in 2015 rose by 8% compared to 2014.

In order to ensure the business' future continuity, Bernard Graf's two daughters, Sydney and Johanna, have recently joined the group: Sydney leads marketing and retail expansion, while Johanna is in charge of style and also of the sorting of vintage clothing.
