G-Shock and Pigalle debut collaboration watches
Casio has launched several collaboration watches for G-Shock this year, in preparation for the brand’s 35th anniversary celebration at Madison Square Garden on November 9. G-Shock unveiled on Wednesday its latest collaboration with French streetwear brand Pigalle.
The watch brand partnered with designer Robert Geller on watches for the G-Steel series, a line for active gentlemen, and launched a 35th anniversary watch with artist and designer and longtime collaborator Eric Haze.
The collaboration between G-Shock and Pigalle began when founder Stéphane Ashpool brought a group of 15 young designers to the Casio headquarters in Japan to learn about G-Shock’s creator, Mr. Ibe. The two brands are now launching two DW5600 watches this November, both retailing for $140, and will be available at the G-Shock Soho Store, Casio website, Macy’s, and select fashion stores.
Ashpool put his signature design spin on the DW5600 watch, designing two colorways that feature Pigalle branding on the face and band and engraved on the back. The DW5600PGW-7 watch has a white band with pink accents on the face and buckle, while the DW5600PGB-1 features a black band and hints of silver.
In addition, both watches feature standard G-Shock technology, including shock resistance, 200M water resistance, an EL backlight, flash alert, alarm, stopwatch, countdown timer, date display and full auto calendar.
Prior to unveiling its collaboration watch with G-Shock, Pigalle launched a basketball-inspired capsule collection with Missoni that mixed Pigalle’s streetwear sensibilities with the Italian label’s signature knitwear.
The collection, co-designed by Ashpool and Missoni Creative Director Angela Missoni, launched in April at Pigalle stores, Dover Street Market in Ginza and Colette.
