Gildan Activewear completes acquisition of Peds Legwear

Canadian apparel marketer Gildan Activewear said it has completed acquisition of Peds Legwear, effective August 22, 2016. The clothing marketer had previously announced on July 27 that it had entered into an agreement to acquire 100 per cent equity stake in Peds. Gildan also owns and operates vertically-integrated manufacturing facilities.

Gildan  is a marketer of branded basic family apparel, including t-shirts, fleece, sport shirts, underwear, socks, hosiery, and shapewear. It has in its portfolio company-owned brands like Gildan, Gold Toe, Anvil, Comfort Colors, Alstyle, Secret, Silks, Kushyfoot, Secret Silky, Peds, MediPeds and Therapy Plus.

Sock products are also distributed through the company’s exclusive US sock license for the Under Armour brand, and an array of products also marketed through a global license for the Mossy Oak brand.

The company distributes its products in printwear markets in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.

In retail markets, Gildan sells its products to a broad spectrum of retailers primarily in the US and Canada and also manufactures for select leading global athletic and lifestyle consumer brands.

Its manufacturing facilities are primarily located in Central America, the Caribbean Basin, North America and Bangladesh.
