Gilt taps Ashley Biden's Livelihood brand for limited-edition collection

Gilt.com and Livelihood Inc., a new socially and ethically conscious apparel company founded by Ashley Biden, launched on Wednesday a new collection of hoodies. The partnership line is available exclusively on Gilt.com, and 100% of proceeds will be donated to Livelihood’s community development initiative.

The Gilt x Livelihood collection is comprised of several hoodie styles, including full-zip and pullover silhouettes in women’s, kids’ and unisex sizing. The styles feature details such as reflector stripes, extended sleeves with thumb holes, heavy gauge draw cords and the motto, “Keep Your Hood Up.” Hoodies are available in black, slate grey, winter white, navy, emerald and blush and retail for $79 to $99.
 
"Over the past 15 years, I've worked as a social worker and learned first-hand that civic participation is an essential component of community development. My goal with Livelihood is to celebrate that ethos with creative and innovative programs that directly impact local neighborhoods,” said Biden. "I'm excited to launch this initiative with a hoodie design, created and sold in partnership with Gilt. I chose a hoodie because it is universal, was once ubiquitous with the Labor Movement and is currently symbolic of important social justice movements."

Through Livelihood, Ashley Biden, daughter of former Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden, focuses on initiatives to help fund schools, vocational training programs and job placement services. The apparel company dedicates resources to specific cities such as Wilmington, Delaware, where Ashley grew up, and Anacostia, District of Columbia, where Ashley first worked as a social worker.

The Gilt x Livelihood collection is available now on the Gilt website and at the Gilt Shop in Saks Off 5th on 57th Street in New York City.
