Hedi Slimane calls in Daft Punk once again

Saint Laurent artistic director Hedi Slimane is attempting renew fashion house’s rock’n’roll ties with the Saint Laurent Music Project. The label, then Yves Saint Laurent, famously dressed Mick and Bianca Jagger for their wedding in 1971.

Not only has the designer chosen to feature a slew of rock icons in an advertising campaign, he also commissioned Daft Punk to mix the soundtrack to the Autumn-Winter 2013/2014 runway show. The DJ duo has featured in ads. Other icons to have taken part in the project include Marilyn Manson, Courtney Love and Kim Gordon.

The French electro artists kept their signature helmets for the campaign but sported a sequin-embellished tux, part of Saint Laurent’s permanent collection. The fashion house will dress the duo for their upcoming tour following the release of their latest album, Random Access Memories. Designer Hedi Slimane was also behind the band’s biker look for the 2005 release of Human After All and used Daft Punk as the soundtrack to his runway debut for the Paris fashion house last year. The Saint Laurent/Daft Punk collab can be seen in full on the brand’s website.
