Hickey Freeman recently closed its Madison Avenue store.
The American brand’s longtime flagship store in Midtown Manhattan officially closed this week. A massive 50-80% off sale preceded the closing.
The store made renovations in 2014 just one year after the brand was acquired by Grano Retail Holdings. Grano currently has a 40-year license agreement for Hickey Freeman with owner, Authentic Brands Group. Though Hickey Freeman was acquired in 2013, W Diamond founder Doug Williams owned the brand’s Madison Avenue store.
Grano opened a new Hickey Freeman made-to-measure store this spring at Brookfield Place, which was unrelated to the Madison Avenue store. The American press is reporting that the brand is searching for a new retail location in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
Jacob Freeman and Jeremiah Hickey founded Hickey Freeman in 1899, and today the American brand is under the ABG brand portfolio alongside tailoring brand Hart Schaffner Marx.
