After four years of purgatory, John Galliano is returning to fashion. Amidst the stirring rumours of his imminent return, Renzo Rosso's OTB group, which is also at the helm of the denim brand Diesel, Maison Martin Margiela, Marni and Viktor & Rolf, has confirmed that the British stylist will be "taking on the role as Creative Director of Maison Martin Margiela."

"This appointment marks a new era in the history of the fashion house. A visionary and nonconformist creative talent, to give new meaning to Margiela's iconoclastic heritage and new momentum to its promising future," emphasised the group in a press release.
A grand return for the designer who was fired from Christian Dior in 2011 over an anti-Semitic outburst. Following this, he went to rehab for alcohol and substance abuse and then did a stint at Oscar de la Renta and collaborated with Russian cosmetics company L'Etoile.
"Margiela is ready to welcome a new charismatic, creative soul. John Galliano is one of the greatest undisputed talents of all time. A unique and exceptional couturier for a label that has always challenged and innovated the world of fashion," exclaimed OTB's President Renzo Rosso.
