John Lewis sales increase slightly in week to April 25
British department store retailer John Lewis saw a slight increase in sales in the week to April 25. The company said sunshine and lifting temperatures had a positive effect on sales, which rose 1.1% to 73.12 million pounds (111.72 million dollars).
Fashion sales were up 18.5% in the period, with women's accessories and beauty up 27% and womenswear up 21%.
The website had "another solid week," with sales up 10.9%. "With the weather seemingly set to fair for the time being we have a fantastic opportunity to showcase summer. This weekend's bank holiday will be the start of the summer for many and we are ready to make it easy and stylish for our customers," said Liz Mihell, Head of Selling, at home, John Lewis.
