Kipling for Urban Outfitters brings 90s monkey charms to a new generation
Urban Outfitters has launched a six piece capsule collection with Kipling designed to celebrate the accessories and bags that were popular in the 90s.
The Kipling for UO capsule collection includes day bags, duffel bags, backpacks and waist packs. In a press statement, Kipling's Head of Design, Christine Lee said the brand looked at its archives over the past 30 years. The design includes signature chunky zippers and furry monkey key chains.
Lee said, "We discovered the bags to be just as timeless, modern and relevant as the first day they were introduced."
She also noted the collaboration with Urban Outfitters will remain authentic to Kipling's heritage design.
This is the first in a series of capsule collaborations to be released by the brands. Urban Outfitters has been exploring a new initiative to bring heritage brands to a new generation of consumer. Recently it brought Ocean Pacific together with other 90s lifestyle and music brands to celebrate an Icons of Summer assortment.
Nina Flood, President of Kipling North America, said that Urban Outfitters' "nostalgic collaborations [have] struck a chord with their customers' appreciation of heritage brands, which is something that truly appealed to us."
The Kipling for UO collection is now available online as well as in 200 Urban Outfitters stores across the country. Price points range from $59 to $119.
