Lynnhaven Mall has announced that L.L.Bean is joining its growing roster of new stores this spring. The 16,700 square-foot L.L.Bean will be the company’s third store in Virginia. The store is part of Lynnhaven’s multi-million redevelopment plan, which is expected to reach completion this fall. The development highlights Virginia Beach’s growing presence as a tourist destination and major source of revenue for the region.
Michael Harris, Lynnhaven Mall General Manager, said of the new L.L.Bean store: “The addition of an outstanding brand like L.L.Bean fulfills our commitment to providing the best possible shopping experience and continues our mission to introduce the latest retail concepts to meet the needs of our community. We know our shoppers will find the L.L.Bean brand and experience a perfect match for their active lifestyles.”
Established in 1912 by Leon Leonwood Bean, L.L.Bean, Inc. originally sold only one product, the Main Hunting Shoe. The outdoor retailer has expanded to offer apparel, footwear, and hiking, fishing and kayaking gear, among others items. L.L.Bean employs approximately 5,000 individuals year round, with additional hires during the holiday season. Outside of Maine, the company operates 22 retail stores and 10 outlets throughout the United States, as well as 21 stores and outlets in throughout Japan.
