The exhibit explores Lacoste’s history dating back to 1933 when it was founded by French tennis legend René Lacoste. Highlights will include the Lacoste brand’s many milestones such as its founding, the launch of the L.12.12 polo shirt, René Lacoste’s tennis trophies, vintage tennis apparel and a one-of-a-kind polo shirt created in collaboration with the Campana brothers, a Brazilian design duo.

L Comme Légende, L Comme Lacoste was first staged at La Baule-Escoublac in France in the spring. It will open at Oculus on August 25 and remain through September 5.

In addition to the exhibit, Lacoste opened a 3,400-square-foot retail location at Westfield World Trade Center on August 17 with the Lower Manhattan mall’s official opening. Lacoste was one of several brands, including Skechers, Sam Edelman, Links of London, Turnbull & Asser and Pandora, to open a store at Westfield.
