Lululemon opens ‘Lab’ concept in New York City

Published

Lululemon this week opened the doors to its first US Lululemon Lab in New York City. The concept store is located at 50 Bond Street in NoHo.

The 2,893-square-foot retail space features a bright and modern aesthetic with hand-blown glass water vessels, custom decorative lighting, glossy white wood floors and finishes of birch, brass and blackened steel.

Lululemon Lab serves as a center of creativity for functional and experimental design that taps into the culture, trends and technology of the people and place it celebrates. Like the Vancouver lab that precedes it, the New York City lab reflects a hyper local perspective. The store carries capsule collections that address the needs associated with New Yorkers’ commutes. All products are limited edition exclusives and are available in-store only.

Lululemon launched its Lab concept in Vancouver, BC in 2009. The concept gives designers the freedom to ideate, produce and test thoughtful one-of-a-kind future designs for men’s and women’s capsule collections.

The New York City lab named Marcus LeBlanc as Design Manager. LeBlanc heads to the brand from Theory where he worked for five years and most recently served as Founding Designer of Theory+. He also worked four years with John Varvatos and graduated from Los Angeles' Otis College of Art and Design.
