LVMH interested in innovative start-ups

LVMH has asserted its interest in innovation and technology. The luxury goods giant is in fact one of the partners of the first edition of 'Viva Technology', an event dedicated to the digital evolution in Europe, co-produced by the Les Echos and Publicis groups.

LVMH announced in a press release that the show-forum will bring together nearly 5,000 start-ups, about twenty leading companies and 500 key players in the field of innovation, in the course of three days at Paris' Porte de Versailles, from 30th June to 2nd July.

The event website's home page - vivatechnologyparis.com

'Viva Technology' somewhat follows the example of fashion’s 'Decoded Fashion' event, though with a much more imposing size. Its ambition is "to reveal those start-ups that are at the cutting edge of innovation, and put them in touch with major companies in search of the tools to implement their digital evolution." Nearly 30,000 visitors are expected.

"The luxury industry has reached a strategic point in digital terms, and this transformation requires the valorisation of entrepreneurship," commented Ian Rogers, LVMH's Chief Digital Officer. The group is taking part in the event "to highlight the luxury industry's top current start-ups, those which will nurture the industry in the future," he added.

The show is set up around three areas, as well as on a collaborative platform called 'Connect', which will allow the start-ups to respond to challenges put forward by the show’s partners.

The 'Imagine' area will host conferences, and the 'Hall of tech' part will be reserved to the presentation and demonstration of technological innovations. Finally, the 'hack' space will be dedicated to interaction in twenty thematic 'labs', where industry-leading companies will interact with previously selected start-ups.

One of these 'labs', extending over 500 m2, is entirely dedicated to the luxury industry, and will be managed by LVMH. It will host 50 start-ups selected at the end of series of challenges issued by the group through the Connect platform.

Among the event's other sponsors there are French transport companies SNCF and RATP, Engie, Carrefour and Valeo.
