DFS Group, LVMH’s duty-free store operator, envisages opening its first European stores to cater to a growing number of Chinese tourists visiting the continent. In an interview with Bloomberg, DFS chief operating officer Michael Schriver cites France, Italy and Switerland as prime locations for the group’s first stores.
Though the exact number of planned stores was not disclosed, Schriver pointed out that Chinese consumers make up one half of global sales at the group.
Unconfirmed rumours have been flying around for some time that French luxury giant LVMH is planning to open as DFS store in the former Samaritaine building that is located on Paris’ famous Rue de Rivoli.
