Macerich on Monday announced new renovations for its Scottsdale Fashion Square center. Construction on the open-air property will begin in 2017.
Scottsdale Fashion Square will receive an updated and redefined luxury wing with two-story storefronts, exterior-facing retail buildings and restaurants, luxury valet, bespoke art installations and fine furnishings, and a signature fountain and garden. Neiman Marcus will anchor the new luxury wing and will be joined by Nordstrom, which will anchor the contemporary wing.
The open-air center first opened in 1961 and featured Goldwater’s Department Store and a number of specialty stores. Scottsdale Fashion Square currently houses four anchor department stores and over 200 shops and restaurants, and its total annual sales exceed $650 million.
"Macerich is capitalizing on the strong growth in Scottsdale and greater Phoenix to enhance our market-dominant retail property. Already Scottsdale Fashion Square is the region's undisputed luxury leader, and we see significant opportunity to better serve this attractive and buoyant metropolitan area for the long term," said Art Coppola, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Macerich. "As we demonstrated with Tysons Corner Center, and most recently with Broadway Plaza, our company has the talent, resources and vision to add density to our top properties for even more value, performance and sustained growth."
Macerich also announced that Louis Vuitton has signed a long-term lease at Scottsdale Fashion Square with plans for a major store renovation in 2017.
The new Scottsdale Fashion Square is set to open in fall 2018.
