Published

Made in NY: Fashion this month launched its fall 2016 campaign featuring five Made in NY certified designers.

The campaign launched during New York Fashion Week and features the stories of five designers through documentary-style video, photography, social media, and web content among others.

The designers, Lela Rose, Anya Cole of Hania by Anya Cole, Julie and Jason Alkire of Haus Alkire, B. Michael of b michael America and Rony Vardi of Catbird, each explain why the Made in NY certification is important to them, why they choose to produce their merchandise in New York City and explain the benefits of their certification. Each designer’s story will appear in print, digital and out-of-home media.

Anya Cole said, “Having certification shows that being Made in NY is at the core of what we do. ”Jason Alkire added saying “Fashion in New York is one of the true American industries, and Made in NY certification is working to keep this
tradition alive.”

Made in NY: Fashion is part of the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), and is responsible for creating, developing, and implementing an array of specific programs to fortify fashion’s design, manufacturing, and educational sectors. Through Made in NY, designers can receive certification that displays their commitment to local production. The initiative launched a partnership with Barneys, the CFDA and Not Just a Label in 2015 and recently partnered with Designers & Agents to provide fully subsidized exhibition spaces for brands at the show.

In addition to the five designers featured in the Made in NY campaign, designers currently certified by Made in NY include Alejandra Alonso Rojas, Alasdair, Between the Sheets, Bib & Tucker, Cadet, Carelle, Kaelen, Leota, Maiyet, Michal Golan, Michele Benjamin, Samantha Leibowitz and Simone Tobias.
