Mark McNairy and Five Four launch 'New Republic' footwear line

Designer Mark McNairy has garnered international acclaim for his time with J. Press and Woolrich, his many collaborations with Garrett Leight and Timberland, and of course for his unique aesthetic and footwear. McNairy was named Head Designer of Five Four Club in 2015, and that partnership has expanded into footwear.
 
New Republic by Mark McNairy is a new affordable footwear line designed in Los Angeles by McNairy. The shoes feature the same details one would find on Mark McNairy shoes including custom uppers and color soles, but each style retails for under $100, far less than the average McNairy shoe.

 
"Price is not a necessary measure of quality,” said McNairy. Though priced under $100, New Republic footwear is designed much like McNairy’s namesake brand. The footwear collection varies in style from driver loafers to brogues, and feature signature details like nob heels and ultra-soft suede uppers. The initial product release from July includes 14 core styles like cap toe oxfords, loafers, chukka boots and driver moccasins.
 
“[Starting the brand] was a natural conversation,” said Andres Izquieta, Five Four Club co-founder and CEO. “Mark moved to Los Angeles last fall to be the head designer for Five Four. We had a bigger vision of where to take the company and saw a lot of opportunity in fast fashion for men.”

McNairy and Izquieta began developing the collection almost one year ago after launching a collaboration collection together in July. The American designer develops the Five Four Club collections including the core collection, a trend driven collection, and the Five Four by Mark McNairy co-branded collection.

In addition to McNairy’s work for the brand, Five Four partners with other designers on collections including Robert Geller, who launched a collection with the subscription service in March. New Republic is a completely separate line from Five Four though it shares the same designer and management.
