Mulberry still looking for a creative director

Published
Oct 20, 2014

Has British leather goods group Mulberry finally found a creative director? The position has been vacant since the departure of Emma Hill in June 2013. According to the rumours, which have intensified over the last few days, reported by the English-speaking press, the search has been concentrated around a few names with, in the leading position, Johnny Coca, current creative director of accessories, shoes and leather goods at Céline.

A Mulberry bag

The designer first debuted in 1996 while designing bags for Louis Vuitton. He then moved onto Céline, then to Bally, to finally return to the LVMH group's ready-to-wear womenswear and leather goods brand in 2010.

Other candidates listed by the press include Hannah MacGibbon, creative director of Chloé from 2008 to 2011, and Blue Farrier, who left her position as creative director at London ready-to-wear brand Issa just a few days ago. She joined Issa in 2013 after having worked for Phoebe Philo at Chloé, Stella McCartney and Anya Hindmarch.

In full crisis mode after a new warning regarding the results published a few days ago, as well as the departure of its CEO Bruno Guillon in March, Mulberry is looking to relaunch itself.
