Major U.S. fashion retailer Nordtsrom will open its doors this September at the new CF Sherway Gardens store in Toronto, leading to the creation of over 400 jobs.

The retailer will be hiring for sales positions in all areas including shoes, accessories, beauty and women's, men's, and children's apparel, as well as various support positions in alterations, building services, and housekeeping, to name a few.

"We've enjoyed getting to know customers at Toronto Eaton Centre and Yorkdale Shopping Centre and are excited to open at Sherway Gardens to more conveniently serve Torontonians in the West End," said Sherway Gardens store manager, Jennifer Gross.

The opening of Nordstrom at Toronto's Sherway Gardens was announced in 2012. It was originally slated to open in the fall of 2016, but was delayed until spring 2017. The store will be 138,000 square feet.

The new CF Sherway Gardens store will mark the company's sixth Canadian store. Nordtsrom first entered Canada in 2014 and currently operates three stores in Ontario, one in Calgary, Alberta and one in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The company also plans to open six Nordstrom Rack stores in Canada in 2018, including four in Ontario, as well as in Deerfoot Meadows in Calgary, and at South Edmonton Common in Edmonton.

Still, Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack face competition in Canada from U.S. department store Saks Fifth Avenue, which is growing in Canada more aggressively, despite entering the market at a later time. Saks off-price concept store, Saks OFF 5TH, plans to have 25 Canadian store locations by the end of next year.

CF Sherway Gardens is slated to open on September 15. Sales and support positions for the store will be posted on May 15.
