Renowned Venezuelan fashion designer Oscar Carvallo opened his first U.S. boutique on November 30 in the Miami Design District during Miami Art Basel. In addition to accessories and haute couture items, the flagship also features “Hero,” the designer’s first prêt-à-porter collection designed specifically for the Miami boutique.

At the opening, Carvallo also entertained guests with performance art entitled “La Vie en Rose.” During the performance, he referred to “Sonic Dress” from the Hero collection: “The idea of creating a ‘Sonic Dress’ merging the voice of Edith Piaf and Grace Jones is a multisensory celebration for ‘La ville lumiere.’” He also compared the Sonic dress to the idea of ‘a woman becoming music.’
Caracas- born Oscar Carvallo opened his first atelier and established his self-named brand in 1992. He is known for his theatrical style inspired by organic farms, fairy tales and pop culture. The designer’s nickname is ‘L’enfant Terrible de Caracas’ due to the rebellious nation of his collections. Carvallo moved to Paris in 2003 where he introduced his new label “Oscar Carvallo Paris.”
